Ok, been looking at the great shots posted here by Basilic and Kingtom and others and thought I should contribute even if nowhere near their level.

Let's see if I can figure out how to post photos...

From yesterday's ride on Christchurch's Port Hills:

We have made huge strides, but 5 years on still have a lot of work to do to recover from the earthquakes. Here's a shot of the tallest remaining building in Christchurch and across the road one of the many, many demo's in progress:
Image

We not only have earthquakes in Christchurch but also fires... caused by the local boy racers letting off fireworks!

But also some cool stuff - here's some art in the "pop up mall" (a temporary mall made from shipping containers):

Cheers
GJ

EDIT: Sorry guys, can't get the pics to post even after searching how to and then signing up for imgur. Frustrating...

I use flickr. Cool shots anyway. Looks about as cold as it was in the Waikato yesterday.

on Sunday, another dam, Emosson

Image

i rode through the terrifying tunnel on the East side (very little light, but no cars) to access a scenic dead end road. Btw the steep road to the old dam is completely fenced off.

Kingtom, Basillic, and Ultiguy. I'm curious what set up you guys roll. Your roads are so clean and nice. Are any of you on tubulars regularly?

Jamie, pretty bike, what is it? I like the conical headtube.
Vagabond, the pictures can be deceptive. Roads look too smooth, and too flat. I'd say generally the bigger roads are well maintained, but you'd be surprised how much roadwork they have been ding on the Colombière and Ramaz this spring in preparation for the Tour (btw for those riding the Etape, I very much doubt you'll be riding Joux-Plane, even a month ago the road had a 30m chunk completely missing near Ran-Folly, washed down by a landslide. I hear there has been another landslide on the Ramaz, just after they fixed the previous one...). Some roads have been awful for ages, eg descent from col de Romme to Reposoir.
The small quiet roads often have 20 yr old tarmac. Eg this Sunday, see the moss growing through the cracks:

I usually ride clinchers, Grand bois, 26 or 28
