What are they in the way of? Being a tall person its nice having the coverage from the sun, warmth in the winter, and since they're skin tight I never seem to have an issue with them "getting in the way".

Personally, I don't like the fact that long bibs squeeze the ITB tendon right above the knee. Having had problems with the ITB, any pressure there is "in the way" of feeling comfortable. Feel like the best length comes about 15cm above the knee... not the hotpants Voeckler wears though. [emoji1]

Quintana riding a Castelli Gaba jersey in the tour de Romandie.
Froome was riding a Rapha Shadow bibshort and something that looked like Rapha Shadow armwarmers.
And I thought Valverde was on a Sportfull Neo-Shell SS jersey in Liege-Bastogne-Liege.

probably same reason for a geared criterium to easily (or easier) distinguish lead and end of group where likely leaders will be lapping the field and they need to pull back markers for results and safety. I mean when motorcycles are working in good order and they have experienced drivers then all these issues shouldn't be present.
^I'm so happy that my choice of shorts brand has not given in to the knee length craze.
Another reason TV is a joy to watch: The length of this shorts.

Thats just CRAZY to me !!!
I'd be so pissed I'd come up swinging and that's VERY unlike me.
There is just NO reason that had to happen.

All I want are knee length shorts, I hate anything above the knee. To me it's uncomfortable to have the elastic squeezing the back of my thigh. I find it much more comfortable. But hey, to each his own. One only needs to wander a California beach to understand this (think creepy old men in speedo's).

I'd be crazy mad too, wheels were flying off and some guys got up and took off again. I'd be checking my bike over before I would take it back up to a 30+mph pace and race. That was the craziest moto problem video I've seen yet.

Either your bibs are too tight or your ITB is in need of serious attention because the amount of compression in even the most optimized bibs is barely enough to influence blood flow let alone compress a major tendon. I wish you best in your quest to deal with your goofy anatomy as we return to pro cycling talk

Never understood why long bibs became trendy. Personally I find them 1. Ugly 2. in the way
Because aero, non? At least that is how it seems to have crept in... Castelli in particular seem to be going a bit more nuts with the length each year. Soon their shorts will meet the top of your aero booties.
I do love a bit of Voeckler though. I can't even begin to fathom how people don't like him
compress a major tendon
I believe it is technically *fascia* but I may be mistaken

i'd like the official statement on the motorcycle issue. was it a stall (which i saw another angle it it seemed), but i've heard 'no gas'....
"The crash occurred just seconds after the start when one of the lead pace motorcycles stalled right in the middle of the course."

That's as bad as the Tour du Pont in 92?? ( think it was the final stage, Wimington?) when there was a fixed tv camera (and technician) in the middle of the finishing straight!
