^I hope so too. frankly I have very mixed feelings about guys who come out of nowhere and start kicking everyone's butts from the day one.

so, Nibali 1st, and for the 2nd and 3rd, I like Majka and Valverde.

^I find it strange that some riders find turbo boost just when Gran tour starts.
Landa vs Valverde IMO

I say Zakarin for the Giro. Landa will be good too.

I believe that we will see some good racing with Valverde in the mix this year...let's hope for another giro full of attacks and not another mundain stage race :D

Landa will have to go on a crazy mountain raid to pick back up the 3+ minutes he's going to lose in the Chianti ITT. Nibs is the safe choice but he hasn't shown much of any form yet...but nor did he before he won the Tour.

I think either Nibali or Landa. But I love to see Zakarin win :)

IMHO Zakarin doesn't have what it takes, both in terms of his own fitness & experience and his team's strenght. he might win a stage or two, but if he places himself in top 5 overall I'll be really surprised.

after checking out the stages, I must say it looks really yummy. the terzetto of mountain stages (14,15,16) looks very cool, esp. given the ITT in the middle. even if you have a team to carry you through the Alda Badia stage (14), you must give all you've got in the uphill TT (15), so the next day is a to be or not to be kind of a stage (16), the real moment of truth.

Nibbles and Valv have the experience and the teams, Landa has, well something that makes him go fast, and the team as well, Majka probably won't have much help from Stinkoff but he knows his craft in the mountains, there are also Chaves (who's probably gonna lose time during first 5 stages), Ag2r,'s Pozzo (it seems no fancy DH sections this year?) and Peraud who both can pull something off, and of course the uber-motivated Cad boys, who, judging from frequent CN adve.. sorry, articles, are planning to pull a Mapei 1-2-3 finish - the question remains if they'll pick a stage or take the whole race by storm.

Is the guy on the podium at the Tour of Azerbaidjan a non-sponsored rider?
