^The curious case of Sergio Henao, yes. Sky found him ok after internal investigations, like I presume they did with JTL. UCI however... It's interesting.

Actually Scarponi said after the stage yesterday that Nibali was eager to go ballistic on the first climb but Scarponi told him to keep calm and wait for the late part of the race.

Astana and Nibali = Armstrong/Postal.

They ride absolutely nothing alike as a team.

Did we watch the same Giro last year?

There were occasions when they had 5 guys in the GC riders' group of 12-15.

On occasion they had that many guys, but most often it was 2, maybe 3 not to mention that they didn't ride with almost the full team on the front as a huge train stringing it out 2 climbs out. Postal didn't invent the idea of sheltering the leader and setting a hard tempo either.

It's also important to remember that Nibali brought his own domestiques, trainer, and support staff to Astana. In the past Vino has publicly chided Nibali and their relationship isn't all that close.

That was very clear from the video where Chavez' parents give the hug to Nibali. The pat on the back by Vino and the reaction by Nibali is very "all business". Courtesy gestures.

After a good night of sleep and looking back at the facts, I am starting to warm up to Nibali's victory.

Yes, I would have personally preferred one of the underdogs like Kruijswijk or Chavez to win, but it didn't happen.

While Nibali may not be my favorite rider, if any of the less experienced riders would have put in the same attack and won in the same way, I would have been very happy indeed. Personal bias...

Congratulations Nibali (and Scarponi + Kangert) for making the right tactical choices and winning in a way that the other teams did not manage to.

So.. if Kruijswijk hadn't crashed on Friday, would he have won the race?

Yes, by minutes.

Even carrying his injuries he only lost 1:30 to Nibali on saturday's stage. Before friday's crash he was 4:43 ahead.

(Also Nizzolo must be so pissed right now! Finally crosses the line first but still doesn't get a stage win :unbelievable: )

And lets not forget the obvious, they didn't cross the line first in the race. Hardly a Postal like performance if the execution fails. Plus letting Landa go rogue on his own would never happen at postal.

Anyway, back to the race. Brilliant performance by Nibali. With all the twists and turns over the course of three weeks he was a deserving winner. I thought he had almost left it too late but you could tell right from the first climb that Nibali was confident. I was getting a bit worried about how close the tifosi were on the final climb.

I would love to see Nibali win at the olympics.

If I was a betting man I'd be inclined to put a tenner on Nibs and/or Dan Martin. I'd say on balance they've been consistently the strongest at the climber's monuments the last few years. (Might just be selective memory though!)
