Exciting day of racing! I love the Giro. It's definitely my favorite stage race. I didn't find Vinnie Nibble's good day hard to believe. He works like a madman and I've thought he's been well below peak performance all Giro long. He finally fired on all cylinders. It was sad to see the crash. I've watched the video over and over and his line and speed looked great compare to those he was following. Momentary lapse in attention perhaps? Tomorrow is going to be another exciting day.

Chaves looked less that thrilled on the podium, almost annoyed while struggling with the cork. Simple exhaustion? Disappointment? I don't know why but at that moment I got the impression that he found his limit today and he's worried about cracking tomorrow. I hope he doesn't. This race has opened up just wonderfully, unfortunately at Steven's expense.

not sure but the fsa plasma 1 piece comes in only 2 widths and unless he's using the 100mm option, it'll be something below.
— Sizes: L100mm x W400, 420mm (c-c)
— L110mm x W420, 440mm (c-c)
— L120mm x W420, 440mm (c-c)

I really don't find nibbles day that surprising. He had a couple bad days and fought to limit damage while keeping the top of the GC in sight. I think we might be blowing his performance out of proportion given SK's plummet from the top of the GC. He put ~1min into Chavez, Nieve and Ulissi; 2min into Valverde, Majka and Uran Uran. Isn't that about on par with what you'd expect from him in the final week of a GT?
Fair play to Kruijswijk for continuing, that looked like a nasty landing straight onto his back. I've had a crash like that an I lay stunned for a few minutes, I certainly couldn't have climbed Risoul afterwards. Really feel for him and think it is a bit sad that the others attacked him on the descent.
Watching Kruijswijk climbing RIsoul at the end reminded me of Ullrich on les Deux Alpes in 98. Suffering all the way up, almost unbearable to watch.

Nonsense. If you crash on a descent no-one will wait for you. Ever. Painful as it is to see the breakout star of the Giro lose the Maglia Rosa like this, waiting on downhills after a crash has literally never been a thing that people do in pro-cycling.
Just watched the replay of Kruijswijk's crash, and if I watch frame by frame it's visible that his rear wheel slipped for a moment. He must have let off the brakes a bit, and that was it.
Edit: actually, the rear wheel slipped a number of times, but they are just consequences of the first one.

def rear wheel slipping a couple of times, apparently he mentioned after that he was trying to get some food/drink - but you cant see from the video. perhaps he was using his right hand to feed, but then i imagine his set up is right hand rear brake?
regardless of confidence descending after that, i would be scared of damage, cant imagine the disaster of a frame collapsing on an Alpine descent.

He said his bike was all messed up afterwards. Don't know if he got it replaced.
