Actioncam videos (GoPro, Contour, Virb, Sony Actioncam, etc)
Moderators: robbosmans, Moderator Team
Let me kick off!
After 2 years filming with a GoPro Hero3 Silver I recently upgraded to a GoPro Hero4 Silver. The image quality (more crisp) and the touch display on the back are a huge difference compared to the GoPro Hero3 Silver.
Still the GoPro Hero4 Silver video files can be used with the Garmin Virb edit software
These 2 videos are about a cycling event where over 4700 cyclists climbed the Montserrat mountain in Catalonia Spain.

I also bought a chest mount in order to try this camera angle:

I used a sony action cam mount with a sony AS100V for 1 year before I smashed the lens by accident while I was travelling in stockholm (camera slipped out of my cold hands and dropped lens first onto the pavement without any protection)
With the sony handlebar mount, it came as a freebie when i purchased the camera. on hindsight should have gone for the k edge mount to reduce the vibration
Day Shot (Lots of camera noise)

Night Shot (around 6am)

The overlays are pretty cool. How does it do it? If not through ant+, how long does it take to add it to the video?

With the Garmin Virb Edit software it's super easy. You need a video file and a GPS file from your Garmin (GPX).

I even filmed some footage from my car and recorded some GPS data with Strava on my phone, later in Garmin Virb edit I could create an overlay
a couple videos of descents in Santa Clara & Santa Cruz County. Using a Shimano Action Cam, and generic out-front gopro mount. Please don't mind my unraveling bar tape or lousy descending skills.

Nice roads and great looking forrest in the Empire Felton road and Hazerd Dell road videoS!!
Also keep in mind that when you have a camera mounted you are somewhere in the back of your mind playing the director of the movie so a don't worry about the descending.
ps: try to use GPS overlays (Garmin Virb edit free software will do the trick more than nicely) as it will give some more entertainment for the viewer
