This is getting close. And I is excited.

I'll make a prediction, he'll fall just short of the 55km, something like 54.894 or something.

Other predictions? Things of note? Live feeds?

I'm glad you've given this its own thread. Deserves it!

I'm going big: 55.758km. Closer to 56 than 55. I think it will be a clinic, each lap time nearly a perfect repeat of the last.

At least until Tony Martin has a go?

Wiggins' track background is worth a lot over Martin's raw power.

Martin is the only one who can give him a run (right now, of course), but I agree... Wiggins' experience on the track is an enormous bonus. I think T. Martin would have to devote a lot of time to getting a feel for the track, and with his road schedule I'm not sure it's feasible.

Definitely. Etixx did their 2015 launch at a track and Martin didn't even feature in the results, I think it was Cav and Keisse that came out best.

It will be shown on Sky Sports 2 or a live stream will be available on YouTube http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/how-to- ... rd-attempt

if it is a one hour time trial and not a track discipline, I just don't understand how previous track experience is more than a small advantage. I likewise think that wiggins is gonna set a record, but mostly because he has a great engine suited for the effort.

mostly everybody gets used to the banking instantly. Even at threshold, a experienced rider like Martin should be able to micro control the bike to stay on the painted line after little practice. Maybe little prep and traveling to the right track is already too much mid-season. Hope he will prove me right once his road commitments allow.

^ Have you ridden the track? Or more specifically, at speed, in a pursuit position? Keeping to that black line when doing ~55kph+ in the banking is not an easy task. A large amount of practice is needed. To do it when highly fatigues is an art form.

Alex Simmons and Xavier Disley both have gone through some interesting analytics of the hour record recently. Seemingly small errors in the line taken can add a fair bit to both distance *actually* travelled and the extra effort required to compensate.

Rumoured aim of Rominger's 55.291km will be a critical mistake for @OfficialWIGGINS #MyHour record. Would need >470w, <54.5km more likely

track experence = fixed gear experience.

on the subject of track experience, dont count dowsett out on this basis, he has quite a bit of track experience.

I'll go with 44.2km

A tad more to it than track=fixed gear. A LOT more.

And Dowsett, the current hour record holder, may indeed take it back... but I don't think for some time.

I think you meant 54.2.... right?

55.5 is my bet. I think he improved his position to perfection and apparently the air density will be low this week end.
He is "aiming" for 55.25 so I think it must be the low prediction to impress the public even more if he beats it.
