I recently worked as a team guide for the Pro Team Lampre-Merida at the Tour of Turkey which is a 2.
HC UCI event.
As an amateur racer it was a great experience to be bumping shoulders with the greats of the sport.
Andre Greipel, Tom Boonen, Cavendish, Rebellin and many other top tier cyclists turn up before the Giro to test their guns on the sprinter friendly stages while GC riders also get to play in two mountainous stages.
The Teams brgin to arrive two days before the start, here, MTN unpacks
Lampre bikes all ready:
Lotto Belisol:
Astana:
Boonen's Bike:
Cav's diminutive Venge (notice the dura-ace crank):
Team presentations, check out Greipel's legs:
1 lap to go on the first day:(notice Astana rider Dimitry Gruzdev with the fluoro shades who would be disqualified for punching a southeast rider on stage 5)
Sacha Modolo's merida reacto behind the doping control tent after he came in second behind Cav:
The Lampre team car ready for the day ahead:
More Tour De France Ridley's
The Cannibal is also present:
Greipel's bike post-wash after his only stage win, he DNS'ed the next day to go and rest for the Giro:
The big guy's German flagged, gold decorated helmet:
packing time before an air transfer to Istanbul:
Boonen's custom paintwork sparkling in the Marmaris sun:
Vini Fantini Went Tubeless for the ToT.
Fluoro S-works are just bad-ass!!!
Sacha Modolo winning a slightly uphill sprint:
Rebellin feeling dejected after loosing GC, he would hit a dog and crash out in the final stage:
To this guy, Kristijan Durasek who had a fever and diarrhea before the start of the final stage:
Finally, the perks of the job:

Thanks for sharing!
I noticed a lack of power meters present
Instagram @seanblurr
MTN were on rotor power meters
Astana were using SRM
Some Lotto riders had SRM's (Greipel), others didn't.
Some Etixx riders were using power2max, Cav was using Stages (IIRC, don't quote me on it...)
Lampre, topsport were using Rotor power meters, but not all riders had them installed.
UHC was on Pioneer's
Some tinkoff riders had SRM's, others didn't.
From what i see the mechanics & riders could care less about some of the stuff we just can't stop talking about.
Low weight, disk brakes, power meters all get a mere MEH!
The only trend the peloton really seems to care about are wide tyres, (25-28 mm).
Vini Nippo Fantini running tubeless tires was interesting but makes a lot of sense IMHO.
