In store credit. $1/hour of riding. 40 hours max per month.

http://www.competitivecyclist.com/strava?INT_ID=IB16422

HOW IT WORKS

Sync your Strava account with your Competitive Cyclist account from this page or your My Account page. If you don’t already have an account, you'll need to create one. You will start to accrue credits once you’ve linked your accounts.

Each credit is worth $1.00 towards any purchase and may not be redeemed for cash. You can always check your balance in My Account on Competitive Cyclist.

- Each hour ridden is worth $1.00 in store credit, in half-hour increments. So, a 1:45 minute ride would receive $1.50
- Credits will be deposited into your Competitive Cyclist account within 24 hours
- Credits will expire at 11:59pm MT on the last day of the following month. For example, credits earned for a ride in March will expire on April 30th
- You can receive up to 40 credits per month
- Credits are non-transferable
- Multiple credits can be combined when placing an order
- Time is measured in moving time
- Manual entries do not count
- Only the Strava activity of ‘cycling’ will count
- Activity completed prior to syncing accounts does not count

That is pretty cool. Already buy a bit from CC. I guess they will be getting even more of my money.

I had been wondering when someone would do this. Surprised Strava hasn't done this yet to get Strava credit to get Strava gear. Would be free advertising for Strava.

If anything, $40*12 = $480 and should help cover the cost of tires, chain, lube, cables...etc. for the year.

I hope it doesn't backfire on them, all the little things are what you get a lot of margin on. Brilliant idea though, gets people buying form them! Well done!

Awesome idea.

Just need someone in Europeland to follow suit.

This is actually kind of good because you can use the credits towards items over $80 and it's automatically sync. It's really a brilliant marketing move for CC and Strava.

It'll be interesting to see if this turns into yet another consumer-mongering ploy. (Be sure to buy something before your credits expire, hurry!)

Well, considering that the points expire within two months, yeah, we'll have to use them or lose them. Then again, at the rate I go through things like Skratch Labs, I'll be reordering frequently.

Wonder if they care if your "cycling" is accurate in speed to actual cycling.

Like anything, this will be taken advantage of.

Leave strava on your phone 24/7 with a second strava account. it will get you 40 moving hours a month, at the cost of a dead battery

Well that didn't last long! I only got $10, what's everyone else managed to save and spend before the death bell rang?

I think they just need a better plan, the email says/implies that they are going to bring it back. I bet they are not worries about the $$$. My take away is that they are worried about the process.

I only got $21. But hey it's $21 I didn't have before.

I'm guessing they grossly underestimated how many miles/dollars people log on Strava.
