Noticed today, Strava has introduced a new element to the segment results.

The old records still stand, but you can now filter by periods.

A bit annoying to see those 2015 KOMs spamming the feed though. I think 90% of the rides in my feed showed multiple 2015 KOMs

Yay, the highest number of KoMs I've ever seen off one ride.
Boo, the shortest life expectancy of any KoMs ever.

I suppose people like me were the reason behind the move. 25 pages of KOMs, most from before the start of 2014.

Not that it matters, I gave Strava the flick on Boxing Day. My account was handing out KOMs like Santa Claus. Until this update anyway.

Anybody know if there is a way to turn this off? I went out for a stead spin today and ended up with like 100 fecking achievements, the vast majority of which were nowhere near a PR or anything of note... Just clogging up my feed now.

I think Strava needs monthly KOMs next. And KOMs by age. Not age group, age. Everyone's a winner!

If I was really in to dick swinging I would have linked you to my active profile and mentioned the KOMs in at least a dozen other threads ;)

I did not know about it, but happened to do an early but short New Year's Ride(33 miles). Came home, uploaded my ride and was 2015 KOM for virtually every segment. It got me psyched to ride today and had me pushing harder, but by then the best I could do was #6 or #8 in a few segments. Great idea Strava!

@ Nick - Fair play, it appears you're a Pro from a quick look at your webpage :)

"Dick swinging", not heard that before, did make me chuckle.

I found a little motivation with the new 2015 segment results however.

Very clever by Strava though. Recognising the majority of their users are cafe racers/casual racers, so are going to be more motivated by the constant positive feedback of achievements.
