Nice guy. Not a huge amount of English.

Rode past him in Dubai last year. He was chatting to one of my friends. Thought he was some weekend warrior looking for coaching...

Funny you say that. I was taking United Health Care around during the week of the Cadel Race and having lunch with them afterwards. Passed Sammy one day as I was leaving - he was in casual wear and honestly looked a little...how do I say this without sounding disrespectful of a nice guy/gold medallist...homeless. Unshaven, shorts too baggy (not unusual on a cyclist), hat on crooked, shirt way too big and crumpled, socks and sandles. Seriously, looked straight out of a soup kitchen.

On the bike though, surely dem pins of his and just the absolute lack of anything that resembles body mass gave away that he wasn't some random Hubbard?

Cold and snowy day here in Washington. I realize that djm will put these pictures to shame, but it was all thoroughly enjoyavle. About 12~15cm of snow and -9C when I left the house (5-7 inches at around 16F). 46 km loop, with about half slogging through the snow "making tracks".

Fun, but not looking forward to the cleaning job. And yes, this is the commuter with the Bar Mitts. They make winter riding possible, so I don't care what they look like. ;-)

DartanianX.. awesome shots :)

Pete, I'm not riding the bike until that stupid wound in my hand grows a bit more.. So you are beating me!
However it appears the worst of the winter may have passed in Oslo. Some people are already riding their road bikes (risky). Hitting the pysio tomorrow after work, hoping he can get my shoulder, neck and back in working order for some training soon.
