African Buffalo encounter this morning:
We were doing some riding in a nature reserve over the weekend. The reserve has an area with free ranging dangerous animals in, that are seperated from the rest of the reserve and not open for hiking or cycling. Rolling along the fence when we saw 2 buffalos about 100m from the fence in the bush. We stopped to have a look as they jogged away, when they circled around and strolled up close to the fence. We stayed very still, hoping that they would move off. Buffalos are big units, and can be very aggressive (they kill about 200 people per year in Africa.) Although they were on the other side of the fence, we were sceptical of its ability to contain a charge of a 900kg animal. The way they were tapping the fence with their horns, it also looked as if the electricity in the fence was not on, or not bothering them much. After a tense 15 min, they turned and headed away - exciting morning.

Just finished the Tour of Sharjah and the UAE Cup out in the Desert. Good fun even if SkyDive Dubai did shut everything down...
Off the front early on the last day of Shajah, if i'd known the stage would end up at 180km i would probably have sat in a bit longer...
750km of racing in 5 days and made the front split in the UAE Cup. 11th out of a break of 13... sprint needs work
