Is it just me but it seems that Etixx will fail tactically every time Stijn Vandenbergh is in breakaway.
He seems to be pulling in wrong place and then not committing when important.

Some have claimed Stijn Vandenbergh is not the sharpest tool in the shed. They may be wrong, they may be right.

IF EQS had enough faith in Vandenbergh Terpstra probably wouldn't have done his impressive move with his solo ride to the breakaway. But even then there was a Nieuwsblad moment when it almost seemed that Vandenbergh tried to close the gap to Terpstra and Thomas with Debusschere in his wheel.
But this race showed that there are plenty of people who either aren't the smartest or simply never rode in heavy winds. So much riding with high wheels, just asking to be blown away.

Funny you should mention it, because if I recall correctly, Vandenbergh started pulling about the same time Stybar was having problems with a flat, and Vandenbergh's ear piece was clearly dangling on his shoulder.
The Belgian commentators didn't say anything about the timing of Etixx-pull and they are usually pretty sharp, so I might've not seen it right. I am sure about the earpiece though.

Apparently the EQS radios weren't working properly, could have been a factor of the dysfunctionality at GWE.

In fairness, he is rapidly approaching 40.

Doesn't look so much as 'not committing' as it is 'unable to follow the move'.
djm - was about 10 pages back. From a crash in the Tour Down Under. Was mentioned on here at the time then too. I didn't know Paolini though had been involved in a pile up earlier on.

Fluorescent yellow/green with the white , red and blue is horrible. Either you do it like saxo or you don't. I'm not saying that the saxo kit is any better.
Paolini is 38 he's got a few years left in him.
I never took drugs to improve my performance at any time. I will be willing to stick my finger into a polygraph test if anyone with big media pull wants to take issue. If you buy a signed poster now it will not be tarnished later. --Graeme Obree
