Used tires/tyres - recycle or landfill?
Moderators: robbosmans, Moderator Team
I've accumulated quite a few old tires, just folding them up when their riding days are done and putting them back in the box. Now there's quite a pile on the bike stuff shelf. Thinking perhaps there is some way to recycle them or reuse somehow. Is there anything to be done with spent tires other than just put in the garbage/trash/rubbish?

I'll check with the local auto tire places but around here when you get new auto tires they charge $2.00 each for the old tires as "local tire disposal" fee. I'll check with some LBS too. From what I can decipher on various forums most places also charge for bike tires/tubes. Looks like my local landfill might have a separate area for tires where they are picked up by a recycler, just have to pay normal dump fees. Probably the way to go for me. Thanks.
Maybe still good enough for rollers? I recycle all my old tyres as roller or indoor tyres. Just untill they blow. Then they're completely done for me.
PS: Check tyres before usage if any debris or so.

You can make great belts out of them.
If you want to see 'meh' content of me and my bike you can follow my life in pictures here!'Tape was made to wrap your GF's gifts, NOT hold a freakin tire on.'
