Thinking of trying a little track racing for the first time next season. Well I've failed miserably at every other branch of the sport so I might as well complete the set! Anyhow I'm looking at the Planet X Pro Carbon bike which comes with 170mm cranks as standard: http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBPXPCLTD/planet-x-pro-carbon-track-bike
I realise track bikes use shorter cranks but I'm 184cm and normally use 172.5mm on the road so I reckon the 170mm would be about right. However at least one of the tracks I'll be using stipulates that bikes must have an minimum BB height of 28cm and cranks no longer than 165mm. I don't want to buy the PX bike and then have to buy a second crankset to use on certain tracks.

Does anyone on the forum know the PX bike BB height? Checked the geometry table on their website but they don't state that info. Not wanting to spend too much cash on this project so I'm kinda hoping if the BB is a tad higher than 28cm I'd be able to keep the supplied 170mm cranks Thanks.

Thanks for pointing that out juanmoretime - think I've sussed it out now. The 5.7cm mentioned on the PX geo table is actually the BB drop below the centre of the axle. Anyhow I measured a couple of wheels fitted with 23mm tyres and distance from the ground to the centre of the axle is 34cm. So 34-5.7 gives the PX frame a BB height of 28.3cm. Those tracks with steeper banking stipulate a max crank length of 165mm and a min BB height of 28cm (11") so they would be extremely strict to refuse the PX frame with 170mm cranks and BB height of 28.3cm. The small matter of 2mm! Thanks again.
