Spray lubricants
Moderators: robbosmans, Moderator Team
I currently use Finish Line Dry Teflon spray lubricant on my derailleurs (the stuff in the red aerosol can).
Is there a cheaper alternative out there? I remember MEC here in Canada used to sell Super Lube (in the grey can), but they no longer carry it.
Canadian Tire sells this Dupont Teflon stuff. Has anyone tried it on a bike? Is it safe to use?

first of, don't use spray lubricants!
Even with the plastic nozzles it still makes a mess on a freshly cleaned bike.
They are bad for the enviroment and you get a lot more out of a drip-on bottle.
That being said, Finish line is a pretty good all-round chainlube.
Morgan blue ice wax is better in dirty and wet conditions.
Rock and roll gold is one of the best dry weather lubes.

What he said. Spray lubricants are lower in quality then their drip bottle counterparts as well. This is because the original lubricant needs to be mixed with a solvent so it can be sprayed.

If you want to see 'meh' content of me and my bike you can follow my life in pictures here!'Tape was made to wrap your GF's gifts, NOT hold a freakin tire on.'
I use Finish Line Dry or sometimes Tri-Flow in the squirt bottles. I tried Pedros Ice Wax but left it in the garage over the winter and now it's thick goo that won't come out the nozzle. As I typed this I looked it up, and apparently there was a bad batch in 2010 that thickened up. Anybody else had problems with wax lubes turning to goo from cold storage?
I've been using Dupont Chain Saver for the past 3 years and it works great. It does need to be applied more often (I apply about every 100 miles) but chain wear is minimal. And the drive train stays very clean (wax based with teflon). I use the aerosol cans since its easy and quick (usually hold a rag underneath the chain as I spray). The cans can be purchased in boxes of 6 and 12 for more economy, and bigger jugs as well.
The drip bottles work fine too.
