Self contained accommodation in the French Alps

Trying to find somewhere around the Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne region to stay for a couple of weeks in June, but it's proving to be a challenge.

Don't have the biggest budget, so anything north of 50EU a night is starting to get beyond my budget. Also I'm travelling light (just one bag and my bike) by train from Brussels, so driving isn't much of an option.


Any help would be sensational.

Dude, just get on a cheap last minute flight to Mallorca and you can stay in one of my places and wash dishes in the evening for your food & board.

There was an Aussie running a B&B in St Jean, but cannot seem to find any more mention of him (thought I'd bookmarked his page, seems not).


Lev, sensational offer. Thank you. But kinda keen to avoid needing to pack the bike. I'm not at top levels of mobility at the moment, so train is going to be easiest.

Anywhere up or down that corrodor should be okay and not too far from good riding.
Had a quick look and a few seem to be booked up end of may/start of june. Hopefully something in your budget, and maybe if you are nice they will give you a discount for a few weeks

yes, gites de france BB (chambre d'hote) is good and it can be 10 % cheaper if you stay 1 or 2 weeks.
