How much does your "stuff" weigh? The things that ride along
Moderators: robbosmans, Moderator Team
What is the total weight of the things that go with you on a ride, aside from you and your bike?
Helmet, gloves, repair kit, shoes, socks, shirt, shorts... whatever.
I've never thrown it all on a scale, before. I'll have to try it.
Also, do you have a "lightweight/race" group of stuff you ride with, that is significantly different than what you typically carry?

I've never weighed all the stuff together, but I pick reasonably light but functional "stuff".
Many people race without pump and spare tube. I like long and/or remote races and don't like waiting for a ride so I usually bring a tube and CO2 cart. BTW a 16g CO2 cart is about 58g. A very light inflator is about 12g, so you're close to the weight of a light pump.
Full bottles weight a lot too. But often the water is more important than the weight.

I just threw my stuff on a scale:
Jersey, shorts, shoes, socks, Road ID, gloves, helmet: 1.75kg (3.85 lbs).
I haven't weighed my bottles/seatbag yet.

Damn, that is lighter than I expected. Which shoes and helmet. I'd guess that most of the weight is from those two.
Shoes are Specialized, and weigh .94kg. I'll have to look to see what helmet I have. It was under $50, so it's not a weenie one.
Here's a pic I took, before I remembered to throw the helmet on:
I have other Specialized shoes that are 80 grams lighter, but they are size 13. I've switched to size 14, and I'm much happier.
Road ID is 20 grams.
