What are you buying and why?

I'm in the game for some new shoes in 2014 and want to see your choice and why.

I'm looking at
Gaerne Chrono Composite Carbon
Sidi Wire Carbon Vernice
Diadora Vortex Pro

S Works for me. Tried numerous pairs (Bont/Fizik/Sidi) but the Specialized beats them all for comfort and weight.

Dreaming of some Giros. New Prolight and Factors are some of the best looking out there. Not sure i can stretch to the top models though.

I'm getting some Mavic Zxellium. I've always wanted to try Mavic shoes, and now that I got the Zxellium SLR pedals for my build, seems like the perfect time.

I'm also considering the Sidi Wire. Possibly in the fluoro yellow colorway, just to try something different from black.

I just got the 2014 Zxellium Ultimates
Coming from Bont A1's, boy these are comfortable while stiff and power transfer is perfect.

Also looks awesome with yellow / black-carbon in the middle.

I'm buying a shoe from each company that makes a wide version and has a money back fit policy.

Here's the list:
Shimano

I just bought a set of Sidi Wire Vernice Tony Martin edition.

I am a big Gaerne fan, I have multiple pairs from them, road and Mtb. I have always been pleased with their quality and they fit me like a glove. But for 2014 I needed a new pair, I hesitated a long time between the Chrono and the Wire. Never had the chance to try the Chrono, nobody has them here in Ottawa.

3 things made me go with the Wire.

The color choice for the Chrono, I did not want all black, all white and could not find the white and black in my size anywhere.
I was scared I would feel the wire at the top of the shoes near the ankle, but after having tried my Wire I think this is not an issue.
And last I just wanted to try something else.

Here it is full winter mode, so I have just tried the wire on my trainer but so far I am very pleased.

They are very confortable and the wire system is a pleasure to use. My only complaint is that the toe box could be a bit larger but once I am on the bike I do not feel it at all.

Lake CX331
Shimano SH-R320
Gaerne G.Chrono

I need something with a bit wider toebox than my current Giro Factors.

@KvnP: I like the way you do xmas

On topic, I used to fancy Speci S-Works road shoes to one day replace my Bont Vaypors that refuse to die. None of Spec's recent or current colorways grab me and I'd just rather spend my $ on other companies. Right now I lean towards staying with Bont (either their std Vaypor with no atop dial or the newest Zero+), but I consider Mavic a dark horse (just not sure can do a yellowish shoe!).

Std Vaypor: http://www.bont.com/cycling/products/ro ... rview.html

Zero+: http://road.cc/content/news/75031-bont- ... s-and-more

Meanwhile, my Vaypors refuse to go to shoe heaven. It's a good and bad thing - good that they haven't fallen apart or stretched out and bad that I can't reasonably feel good about popping on another pair quite yet.

Have Shimano r320s, just fired on S-Works narrowly over the Bont Vaypor. Got some flouro Wires, but they didn't work out for me in the end as the last wasn't very erognomic.

"fired on" = "pulled the trigger on" ?

(just asking, as I never use either phrase personally)

It simply a shame that not a single shoe brand/model has all the boxes ticked for me. The one that fits best is not so aesthetically pleasing. The one that vents best does not fit. The hot, classy, and elegant ones don't fit, etc. I wished there was a show that fits and is vented like the s-works, has a moldable sole like the Bont, and have the looks of the Giro or Rapha shoe.
