First we saw Jan Ulrich wearing Rapha and calling them partners, now LA. They really like to partner with ex-dopers, don't they! Are these wise business moves?

No, they're partnering with a really successful, high-end bike shop (and tourist attraction) to sell their wares. MJ's has been selling Rapha for at least 18 months, since I moved to Texas. Also, contrary to people's opinions of the owner, the shop has actually been very honest with me in my dealings with them. They have never tried to upsell me on anything, versus the local shops where I live, that are constantly upselling and putting down other company's products.

People will probably always try and disparage MJ's because of the ownership but the reality is that it's a really nice LBS and coffee house that employs local riders and racers and is very involved in the local cycling community. They do nothing but good stuff for Austin and cycling in general. They're not my go to LBS but I have bought stuff and bikes there and have had nothing but good experiences.

And what kind of statement is that??? What ex-pro nowadays isn't an ex-doper???

I'm sure it's a nice shop. Wish they'd change the name though as MJs is straight douche-bag stuff and anything but witty

Rapha is generally too authentic for me ... they discovered cycling only a few years after I did and I'd rather go with a more recent entrant
