Recently the board software has been updated and there are some known bugs/failures:
- Avatars are currently not being displayed ✔ FIXED
- Tapatalk connection is currently broken ✔ FIXED
- Avatars cannot be uploaded ✔ FIXED

Please note that we will soon do some changes in WW board template design in case to get a fully mobile/desktop responsiveness board!

Hi I am wondering why are the so few bikes listed in the bike gallery under http://weightweenies.starbike.com/articles.php
Am I missing something? I mean is there another place where those bikes are posted. I would've thought with so many WWs there would be a lot more members willing to show off their gear. If wanted to post my bike where do I sent the details and photos? Is it still weightweenies at starbike dot com.

Too much time involved in listing them manually perhaps?

I mean the great thing about the forum style is anybody can post, update and edit their own rides. Also on the plus side, people can view, search and comment on them really easily.

Thanks I understand, but I still reckon it would be nice to see a full-ranking of the bikes- lightest to heaviest- just to see what's out there in a single gallery...will try to put my xizang up soon and add a post on the forum too! m

I believe the record is at 2.XXkg right now. I built a bike at 4.6kg and apparently that's 2kg over, so what's the point of posting it?

It is a source of inspiration and it keeps bikes findable of which the topics are died long ago.

An example could be gumgardners bike...

I agree, How many sub 5 kg bikes are there...really.
We've all "seen them" but only a few.

Look at Gum's. He spent $20,000+ (in retail terms) for his build and it was just about what...4.6-4.8-ish.
So there arent' too many out there.. Just look at the gallery, how many in the most recent 10 pages are sub 5kg....possibly, none. (at best 1 or 2).

So I think a sub 5 thread is very inspiring and helpful.

(I ride a 56 size frame and almost have practically all the WW stuff there is...and I can't get a bike 5.3kg without using paper towels for tires (ie. Tufo superlights) and cutting post and bars shorter etc...
(I've got the spreadsheets :D on multiple builds)

So, a sub 5kg thread would be great...I think.
(maybe a sub 6 too)...its a great reference.

I'd love to see your 4.6 build. :thumbup:

I find the lightweight bike builds a useful reference tool, for example regarding component compatibility (as well as gram saving).

They are also a good benchmark of how current tech is moving on, particularly on 'over the counter, (ie not custom) parts. Some parts, like extralite, have evolved but not necessarily had any more recent revolutionary, and are still a key part of a WW build.

skewers 25?
tires 350
cables 150?
seat 105
bar 180
stem 95
tape 50 ish

Total was 4.69kg.

Definitely agree, however can it be moderated in some way?

It's too often we see threads about one person's build and someone else will come in, post their own bicycle or something else, and it gets mucky like mud.

In my opinion, a proper thread/gallery like that would have one picture of each build that qualifies in that category with a link to that build's thread, maybe a build list along with it, but not much else...
