I'm looking for some winter kit and ideally want a winter jacket with removable sleeves.

Ideally, I'm looking for something comparable to my Gore Alp X So jackets, which I'd be more than happy to buy more of, except they're so damn expensive.

Any ideas?

I think you should define winter. For example here we do our winter rides about 0 to -7 celsius.

Yeah, suppose I should.

Winter for me is anything from 0 - 5 degrees celsius, as my hands just can't handle anything colder.

I have a 2xu winter jacket that the sleeves come off ... its awesome and if you couldn't remove the sleeves it would be too hot
I now have the SUGOI MAJIK and that works brilliantly for heavy downpours

As always, I am going to go Castelli on this one, they have an exhaustive array of winter kit, and pretty much can handle just about any situation. I am saving my change now to upgrade my winter garb from all old team kits to some good winter kit that works.

I'm pretty much in that same boat. For many years I thought I was being frugal in buying cheaper kit, now I've come to realise the more expensive stuff really is a lot better.

I do quite like Castelli stuff. Do they make a winter jacket with removable sleeves?

The Gabba convertible has this, but I have not looked thru a lot of the others yet.

I'd be interested in the Castelli Elemento jacket for cold dry rides. Castelli just fits me very well, and their fabrics are usually up to the claims, in my experience. Unfortunately it's so fricking expensive that I can't even put it on the wishlist for Santa.

Just had a quick look at the Castelli Elemento. Looks nice but, damn, that's expensive. Makes the Gore jacket look cheap in comparison.

I just got this Demarchi Jacket - http://www.competitivecyclist.com/de-ma ... ZXRzOjE6Mw

Very impressed with fit and quality. It's right up there with the best of them. I have really taken a liking to their clothing. Well made and fitting.

Does anywhere still sell the Gabba with removable sleeves? I've got the short sleeved version and it's awesome all round.

You could just get Nanoflex arm warmers :-)

Castelli's Pazzo has zip-off arms, by the way.

www.classiccycling.com

Check them out, email them, you will more than likely get the owner directly. They had the convertible earlier. He may still have some.
