shot in the dark, but looking to get some advice regarding overall saddle height.
the measurement i'm looking for is from bottom of the rail, to the top of the nose.
the shorter this distance, the better. my seatpost tapers at the top and if i can reduce the saddle height so i can bring the seatpost up just a hair, i wont be forced to swap posts.

saddles im looking at are rolls, turbo, regal, flite, ie anything late 80s/early 90s style.
current saddle on the bike is a mundialita, and seems to be excessively spaced.

thanks

My Flite Ti, 2010 version, from bottom center of rail to top of saddle is 47mm +/- 1mm. My early 90s Flite Ti is more like 50mm at the center, because this saddle curves up more abruptly towards the rear. I don't know if the re-released "Flite 1990" has the same spec or not. I'm not sure why you want "bottom of the rail, to the top of the nose", a bit difficult for me to measure on the bikes. On my newer Flite I would say it's pretty close to the center-top measurement, because the top is fairly parallel to the rails. On the 1990 it's much shorter, in the 25mm range, because the nose on this design dips below a line drawn through the rails. In other words, to have the center to tip section of the saddle top reasonably level, the rails are actually tipped up about 10-15 degrees. If that makes sense? Here's the 1990 on wiggle http://www.wiggle.com/selle-italia-flit ... al-saddle/

I assume you're at the limit line on your seatpost?

Could you consider changing your subject to something more useful?

"do you know your saddles?" is a bit vague. I came into this half expecting to see a link to a 'saddle quiz' or something like that. Instead you want advice on similar saddles to something you have in mind.

If you change the subject to be a bit more specific, you may have a better response rate and be a bit more helpful to other people here. This is not an unreasonable request.

Thanks.

kbbpll, thanks for the info. I am not looking for an exact measurement, but maybe more a general consensus on what those with experience with the saddles believe to sit higher or lower. I am indeed at the limit, and i want to keep the campagnolo post thats currently on there. I need to shave maybe 15mm, and didnt think it was impossible given how high the current one is.

prendrfeu, a quiz would be a good idea! I will try and edit the title

My 1980 Brooks is about 60mm at center of rails. It's probably hammocked somewhat; I put a lot of miles on it.
What does the mundialita measure? From pics online it looks pretty tall. And suede?!

The new Regale are not that high and have the older classic shape. Been on one all year, can't complain.
