All in SF:
Roaring Mouse Cycles : good fitting, good mechanics
RollSF: excellent service
BeSpoke : boutique
MASH : alleycat fixie scene
Boxdog: cool randonneuring bikes
used shop @ 17th & sanchez: some occasional really cook classics...or even fairly new stuff.

Do any of them do rentals? I'm in town every year for OracleWorld and would love to get out and ride next year. Love SF

Don't miss Veloro in Redwood City, about 30 minutes south of SF. Outstanding shop and help...

Wow -- I'd never heard of that shop.

If I was after a Parlee, though, there's Bespoke in San Francisco.

I was just in Roll (Potrero Hill), a service-focused shop. Sam, the main guy there, used to work in Bike Nut and is the go-to guy in the city for lightweight part work, since he has a lot of experience with them from Bike Nut. I asked him if he's planning on going into the business of selling the parts: it's tough because people tend to be really picky about what they want so it's hard to have proper inventory. But I suggested there were enough people looking for weenie builds that it might be a good to advertise his experience. He's also a small-time frame builder. The shop seems very neighborhood otherwise.

What gave him away to some extent was a recall notice hanging in the shop for EE Brakes....

They also had a used bin with parts for sale including some Cinelli Spinaci.... I hadn't seen those since the days of Claudio Chiappucci.

Don't forget Nomad Cyclery and Fresh Air Bicycles. Both in SF and great shops.
