Buying a couple of DVDs for my Christmas stocking. I am getting Road to Roubaix but also want a TDF one. I'm a big Contador fan so want either 2009 or 2010.

Which was the better year of the two? Some guidance here would be great.

2010! 2009 was a very boring Tour.

Well.... any TDF now in light of the doping is lost on me. When I was racing in the 90s there was lots of talk but this even turned out worse than the "talk".

This really nailed it http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/stories/ ... 608613.htm especially Joerg Jaksche Interview

Any Hinault, Lemond, Roche or Wiggins would be my choices.

2010. The Paris-Roubaix stage was especially interesting.

another vote for 2010
The more you suffer, the closer you get to transcendence.
It's not the mountain you're climbing, it's yourself. If you don't want to know, stay at the bottom.

2010, since you're a Contador fan and those are the only choices.

Personally, I found the 1937 TdF especially compelling.

IMHO,

'09 if you're a Contador fan.

'10 if you're a Schleck fan. Contador just couldn't shake him.

Too bad they're both chock full of Lance this and Lance that from the announcers.

I found this two book set on the history of the TdF quite interesting. Sometimes boring, but never for long. I learned a lot about the race and its history.

Yes that is the problem, if you're totally neutral or you don't enjoy Contador destroying everyone in sight in the mountains than 2010 is the clear choice. 2010 was closer wasn't it but less outstanding riding I think.

I've got a history of the TDF and I agree the early Tours really were something special. Absolute hardman stuff and lots of excellent skullduggery thrown in.

Why not the 2011 giro or the 2009 tdf, if you ate a Contador fan. I love it fire the fact that scarponi fought even when he was out classed by AC, that stage that Mikel Nieve won my English just falls short to describe it (in Spanish it will be an hombrada) and Contador toying with Vincenzo. The 09 tour had the first tt where Contador said this is my team on the tt, and the old man maybe because of bad hearing or age (old people suffer from both) still pretended to fulfill his own ambition; then verbier came. The last tt I usually like Fabian, but the man showed to be a sore loser (nothing wrong with that).
