I just moved out west and will be living in north Berkeley. Just wondering how many of you guys are out that way. I'd like to get riding again after a month off for the move and would be nice to meet some new people.

:welcome: :beerchug: There are a few here (I'm in the city)...there's also a regular shop ride that leaves from Wrench Science in Berkeley. They're a great bunch of guys to ride with...

I'm in Berkeley. There is a lot of good riding to be had out here and plenty of group rides to suit whatever you're into.

I am in Marin county but I would say I am more of a performance weenie than weight weenie. My bike is barely under 16 lb in daily driver attire.
One of the best weight weenies I have ever seen is in Berkeley. He shows up at all BBC events. Has a bike that he pushes around like a new puppy. I don't think he rides it because the stuff he uses is so light that it breaks. He had his bike down to 12 lb like 10 years ago. With new parts he must be under 10 lb.

Donald, who i believe has the lightest bike on WW, I think it is sub 8 pounds now, is in the Bay Area, but make no mistake he does ride that bike. I had the pleasure of running into him out on a ride one day, but he was on his heavy bike which I think is about 12 pounds.

Wait a minute. So when does donald ride the 8 pounder (perhaps a little more in daily driver configuration) vs. the beavyweight 12 pounder? Isn't the 8 pounder supposed to be a daily driver?

I ride my 7.82 lb. Rue about two to three days per week I don't always use my lightest front wheel, and often use a little heavier tires, and so I am usually riding it at about 8 or 8.1 lbs. i ride my 10.5 lb. bike about two days per week. In very thick fog I usually ride mt 12.5 lb. bike with fenders, as the roads can be very wet. I have been riding the Rue for five years now with very few problems.

Those weights read more like new born babies than bicycles.

Got another month and a half of road season, if that's your thing:

And the CX calendar is up.

It's a shame but I pretty much only ride from my house. Don't drive to go ride unless it's a race.
