This is an interesting video and "case study" in The New York Times – the 2008 World Track Championship featuring Theo Bos vs. Chris Hoy. You can find it at this URL:

Never mind tactics, balls of steels and an enjoyment of pain!

That's an awesome win by Foerstemann, but oh so close! This is why I love match sprits of which I am currently missing due to crappy coverage. Screw you Channel 9.

You expected better from Channel 9?

For non Australians - Channel 9 is a free to air TV station that bought the rights to show the Olympics here. They are using their highly paid presenters who know nothing about sport to commentate. Plus spend most of the day playing highlights of the same few events...

Did I also hear correct that Kenny set a new WR for the flying 200m?

Sorry slightly OT - the thing that bugs me about ch9 is they have two channels, minimum, at their disposal and... show the same thing on both.

Perkins apparently was crook earlier but still through.

They said he set an Olympic record with 9.713. Has Sireau got the WR?

Kenny set the new sea level 200m record. They now differentiate between the two as a flying lap at altitude is waaay faster as it is such a short anaerobic effort

The men's record of 9.572 seconds was set by Kévin Sireau in Moscow, Russia on May 30, 2009.
