Found nothing with "search".
Wonder if there is a cycling record for the same distance on PP as Sebastian Loeb did with his car? :noidea:
Googled for it and found that there is a cycling climbing race (annually?) with some recorded times.
Not sure if these times are "cycling records" for Pikes Peak.
Any clues?

You may want to find the a local bike shop, cycling club or team. They should be able to point you in the right direction.

14 Paul Mendoza 1.8km/h 84W 245 5:28:15

Can these speed, power, VAM, times be correct - for the leaders? Was everyone forced to stop for tea in the middle of the climb? Or maybe these are all just really pathetic riders, and no good riders have been recorded on this Strava segment? 21 attempts by 16 riders, which I guess includes the one woman rider.

Thks, CG.
Not questioning the Strava figures for now.
What I can see there is that the distance is much shorter compared to the car and motorcycle records distance.
The distance covered by those vehicles is 19.9kms and the altitude at the start is 2862,07 meters and
4301mts when crossing the finish line.

Given the wide spread between 1st and 2nd rank I expect not too many fast climbers have done it and reported the ride on strava.
A VAM of 825 at that altitude and for that time is not bad.

A lot of those times seem awfully slow though.

"Pathetic" is a loaded word. Lots of people climb slower than I do but I don't look down on them for it.

Let's put it this way. Even in my prime 30 years ago, I would not have been anywhere close to being on the men's leaderboard for any well known climbs in your neck of the woods, although my times would have made the women's leaderboard. So if as a slow, old man, I could annihilate 2nd place on the men's leaderboard, and probably first place as well, then the competition would be pathetic.

The competition may be pathetic, the people who make up the competition are not.

That Strava Segment is not Pikes Peak toll Rd. It is Barr Trail(off road hiking trail) which summits at Pikes Peak. That explains the slow times.

Both the cycling and motor race are not the full climb, but actually start part of the way up the mountain. Not sure if there is a Strava segment matching the section used by the motor race?

Regardless of the time you take to get up it, I would recommend getting out there! Last year was the first year the road was opened to cyclists year round as previously it was only legal to ride this climb one day each year!

I found it the hardest climb I rode in the US last year by far! Max elevation of 4300m above sea level (studies suggest ~72% sea level FTP at this altitude) combined with steep gradients near the top made it tough! Top half is so steep, the Rangers measure brake temperatures at Glen Cove on vehicles descending and will force the motorists to stop till the brakes have cooled!

Dalai, thx for the input and beautiful pictures.

Here are the altitudes and distance both Strava and car&motorcycle record track.
Strava (lowest elev.) : 2863mts
Sebastian Loeb record track: 2862mts

Strava (highest elev.) : 4299mts
Sebastian Loeb record track: 4301mts

Strava (total distance) : 19.4kms
Sebastian Loeb record track: 19.9 kms

So it seems almost the same track .
