230km return including both sides of the Galibier and col de Montgenevre via Briancon. Won't be able to ride via Modane as there is a very long tunnel and even if you could wouldn't want to ride the main highway anyway!

If you want to roll out your front door and ride a Hors Categorie climb then Lyon is a bit far...

Sounds like fun. Sestriere is a great destination but for me, any ride there has to take in the Finestre - my favourite climb in the Alps bar none.

I haven't done it but I can't see any tunnel if you ride to Modane then onto to Lanslebourg and over the Mont Cenis. Down into Susa and over the Finestre before climbing to Sestriere. From there I'd head down all the way to Bourg before going over the Croix de Fer.

Massive ride mind.
