Campagnolo (non cotton, of course) and Assos are nice. Assos regular cuff length though. Long cuffs make me think of L. Armstrong and that won't do.

I like DeFeet Hitops the most, anything lower looks weird on my long legs...

This is such an interesting thread...along the lines of "what toothbrush do you use?" or "do you use three ply toilet paper?"...

During the summer I use only Gore bike wear socks. For example Xenon: nice cushioned sock for longer rides on road.

The GBW socks are very much like the ones from X-Socks, I think the same company makes them both.

I use electric toothbrush, Braun Oral B. Really nice. Spares i get them on ebay, much cheaper. My dentist says my teeth are much better now. I tell my dentist to give up on Pinarellos, as Italy is not what it used to be, and get a proper ride. I believe him, and he believes me too...

I´m using recycled toilet paper now. It may be the worst decision I've ever made in my life. I just can't ride for the moment. Totally serious on this. Too...

I use a Sonicare toothbrush. Dentist says he can tell the difference.....costly on the spares, but you've only one set of teeth, right!

Oh, I wear Nike Dri-fit socks, black al la Lance. I timed myself and they are good for 1-2 mph over 40k at 30 feet above sea-level.

OK, sports fans, I actually have a legitmate question about cycling socks.

I have relatively large feet - 47 EU - and most cycling specific socks out there put me just on the borderline sizewise.
After a few washings most socks shrink up just a touch - or lose their elasticity - and constrict my feet.
I have used Sock Guy - even sent them an email about making their socks bigger... they changed the sizing recently to XL 0 48 at the top end and the socks fit exactly the same, too small in the largest size.
Cocoon - too small
X-Bionic - too small and a PITA to put on, in all honesty.
DeFeet Wooleators - are about the largest I have found that do not shrink up, oddly enough.
Sugoi - not sure who made them, but they must be a decade old and still fit ok, but are threadbare.
And lots of others...

Someone recently recommended the Falke socks are having a true to size 47-48 size.

Any other suggestions for larger feet would be appreciated.

Oh, and as a note, I run my shoes snug and use molded insoles so I seek "thin" minimalist socks.

The only "proper socks" as the topic title describes are white and have a high cut, well over the ankle but underneath the calf muscles.

Wearing socks that do not cover the ankle makes you look like a dork. You might as well not shave your legs.

Thanks to the people who recommened DeFeet socks. I bought them after reading this topic and they're wonderful. DeFeet should give a couple of free pairs away for your excellent marketing campaign

I bought Rapha's winter and merino sock bundle. They're REALLY nice but expensive. Defeet are almost as nice but less expensive. You can't go wrong with either.
