Ok, so I was thinking bout getting some new socks for this entering summer. I have too many crappy socks and some good ones. I own a great pair of Kona socks, made by defeet (the aireator model). Bought them long ago, but they are so good quality that they are still rocking... I was gonna buy 3 pairs of gore socks, but they are black and I just notice that black socks suck a bit, specially with black shorts... These are the ones I plan to purchase, but any tips or thoughts on such a non-important topic are welcome. In general I hate if they are not short, I like them a bit longer only if they show a decent logo or something nice. eBay links are welcome too.

sockguy white classic 3 inch are my favorite, perfect length and comfy

I prefer not to go any shorter because then it starts to look like you're a triathlete, plus if you have longer sleeves and bib length, short socks look awkward

I've been wearing swiftwick socks for the last year or so both for compression and on the bike socks and they're great

+1, except I go black or gray.

Actually, I like SockGuy socks so much that I bought a few pairs to wear with work clothes :)

In my home town (Southest Spain) it can be 22 ºC in winter and 30-40 ºC in summer, so I guess shorter is no problem, but yes, when you look like no socks it's quite ugly. Above the unkle, like most pros nowadays, I find it ugly too, and anyways no one is paying me to wear their logo so...

Liggero,

Socks are very important, they are 1/3 of one of the contact points... and it could be seriously argued that they are the real foot contact point. I have tried a many many brands and materials and I think the best are the defeet ......

defeet make three cycling wool socks the Woolie Boolie is med thick and it is my choice!!

My 1st fav was the aireator or original plain defeet. But there were many many perfect review of the original wool swobo socks.. so I spent the $ and bought a pair, after my 1st ride I stopped wear any other socks ( wool is the key) and Swobo stopped making them..( just my luck) thank god they lasted until Swobo reopened, then they changed the design but they were close enough ( I bought 2 pairs this time).

Swobo changed the design again and now I think they are too thick for me...I spent an year looking for a replacements and the swiftwick wool were very very close, a little thin for me and a little small for my size 13 foot.

My wool defeet gloves got a hole after many years and I was on their web site and I just bought a pair as an impulse buy, but now Woolie-Boolie is my sock of choice if it didn't have the the logo on the cuff and cost so much I would wear them as everyday sock.

It looks like they don't have the back ones instock but they did/do make one.. and the white one is really cream ... I had to bleached one pair of the cream ones after it turned black because of a 5 hours ride in the rain.. and it is almost white

I can not praise them enough, I use them skiing, rollar hockey, hiking, sail boat racing and cycling ....... basically any sport = Woolie-Boolie !!!

DeeFeet, in Europe:

These are the best cycling socks i have ever had, and by far.
Had to hunt these down leaving in Israel, but well worth the hassle.

I've recently invested in a pair of socks specifically made to stop your feet moving in your shoe. Working wonders so far and if you give me ten minutes I'll find them.

Always well above the ankle for looks though!

+1 on Swiftwick. Love those socks. They are legitimately the only socks I wear on the bike or off. Wore a pair to the last wedding I attended...

I like the 2XU Performance Cycle Sock, they are a good length for me. In winter I use Endura or Seal Skins thermal socks to keep my toes warm.
