Hi guys!

This is something I've been doing lately.
Its my first custom/homemade jersey and bibs :)
Sorry for bad pics , Im going to make some more these days..

OK , something about the kit

there is 5 different materials on the jersey:
-white lycra - thin
-black lycra - thin
-black lycra - thick/stronger
- black synthetic net
-elastic band 3cm wide ,black

Image

white lycra is used on the bottom of the sleeve and on the front, thin black lycra is used for sleeves, collar ,
left and right side panel , and back - under the pockets. Thicker black lycra is used for pockets ofcourse.
black synthetic net, is on upper part of front and back panel and under the sleeves.
Elastic band is on the bottom .
Here is a rough sketch so you can se a little better about jersey model.
I used *triple elastic thread for the jersey, with strongest synthetic chord (is that the right term for it ??) i could find.
Its almost impossible to rip it of with bare hands without chopping your fingers in half :D so if something is going to fail, its going to be fabric first.
*triple elastic thread= machine makes 3 threads in line one wide and 2 thin ones . Thread stretches along with fabric .
Zipper is too stiff, I must find something flexier, but for test jersey its fine.
And pics finally :
black synthetic net

elastic bands, left one = bibs, right = jersey

Bibs
Standard model, will not say much about them because im still testing them.
Thicker lycra inside , thinner on the sides, elastic band 4cm
I used band on bibs because I think its more efficient that standard rubber elastic one.
With standard rubber band I got that mark after the ride for couple of hours= it is to thin and to
thight in most cases unless you have legs like pencils. Wider elastic band keeps bibs in place and dont squeeze your legs.
I guess better blood flow and rest of the stuff is also improved but i cant claim that :)

will have more pics soon ,
Enjoy :)

Marko

*note that some details are still rough

Regular jersey in my size (L) is 180g (not fancy stuff, just regular team stuff you get) , and this one is 170g. but zipper is a pig. It could be lighter.
Bibs , regular (L) are about 220g , and these are 195g.

:)

Great work. I think it must give you a lot of satisfaction to ride kit which you made yourself and is perfectly tailored for you.

Good job. Sleeves are a bit long, though. You should look at some of the Pro Team kit, I think you would get a lot of good ideas.

Yeah feels great ! I will make one more model next week , details soon :)
Found some new fabrics for the summer kit also.

@geoff
Yeah, I found some interesting stuff , and im making new template.
This was first one , and after that its much easier to make modifications.
Sleeves are longer yes, but i wanted to make it to be something like spring kit ... bibs are a bit longer too .

For summer kit, I want to make jersey to be made with synthetic net mostly. well 85% at least :)

Excellent stuff. My mother works for a top designer in the fashion industry so I know what it takes to make this.
Wear it with pride.

Now the question is did your mother help you make the kit? :D
