yes, used both and 404s much better by all of those accounts. However, more expensive (tho there are some pretty good deals at the moment with the whole firecrest & CC range being the 'better' ones)
Neither are super stiff still, but the cosmics would swing like wind shield wipers under heavy stress...

i had the opposite experience.

Maby zipp on my ride has loosen spokes
I race on cosmics sl for some time and they were stiff (until rim crack- i think spokes has too much tension after servis)

so zipp clinchers8alu rim) are stiff and durable?

I ran the 2011 404 alum for few hundred miles they are pretty good. No problems so far, easy to install tires.

I feel they make the hub very light and not sure if this is a problem long term. My Shimano C50 is about 200g more, where did Zipp take the weight out? Hub, alum freehub body, and the carbon seems a bit thinner than Shimano. However the 188/88 hub is probably the best one they have made so far.

My C50s is 1710g with base tape.
Zipp says 1662g for the 404 alu clinchers, my guess that's without tape.

Where does the 200g you mention come from?

RS-80 with a heavier hub (mainly steel freehub vs Ti) and wider spokes.
