Former Formula 1 driver Alex Zanardi won his second gold medal today at the London 2012 Paralympics. On top of his individual time trial H4 handcycling victory, the 45 year old also won the road race H4 event: 8 laps around a circuit for a total length of 64 km. Zanardi crossed the finish line after 2 hours and 32 seconds, followed by South Africa’s Ernst van Dyk (silver medal) and Belgium’s Wim Decleir (bronze).

I spy with my little eye...

Are these lightweights? The hub doesn't look right but it's hard to tell...
They normally ride Shimano wheels right?

Those are Zipps, which is also what they normally ride.

^^What am I missing (an esoteric joke, maybe)? There's nothing about those wheels that says Lightweight.

Perhaps he's referring to the rider in the background.

The rider in the background is an Argos Shimano rider, who of course ride on Shimano wheels.

Yes, that is correct FA63, and if you go back a wee bit and see what CarpetFibre wrote, he is asking if that rider, who is on a team that normally rides Shimano wheels as you pointed, is in fact riding a Lightweight.

...we already know that the team rides Shimano, that's not the question.

From this distance, while the image is poor and it is hard to know for sure, CarpetFibre may be correct or at the very least has a valid inquiry.

I wasn't trying to be snide. Those look like the new Shimano carbon wheels to me. I suppose I could have worded it better.

Anyways, back to the discussion.

For those always asking about durability, broken spokes and truing with Lightweights, I think you should note that this guy is riding Gen 2 (at best) wheels - see the red kevlar in the spokes - which are probably from 2006 to his gold medal victory in 2012.
