I noticed on tv that Hondo rode LW wheels in Rund um den Henninger Turm last monday. Maybe somebody has found a better picture? I'm pretty sure I saw a few more riders on LW's as well. I think I spotted Johan Coenen on a set as well?
I think you are right. Indeed I believe Zabel and Johan Coenen (quite visible when he turned left after his attack) were on LWs as well.
Johan Coenen was on Lightweight in Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

Rumors go Magnus Backstedt is aiming for Tour de France victory in 2007, if Ullrich will retire of course.

Nice picture, from what I have seen on tv these are the only two riders with LW's in the TdS? Looks like Ullrich had to return the front Ventoux wheel he used last year

Hahahaha
He bought the 2 Ventoux frontwheels last year for the Tour of Germany. Why should he return them?
Actually: We met 2 weeks ago and he ordered 2 Ventoux front, 2 (modified) Obis`s and 2 honeycomb disks (110 mm wide instead of 130 mm for his Giant TT bike).
I think there must be some kind of important race in the near future....

OK, thanks for the info
Somehow I was under the impression that the front wheel Ullrich used in the Tour of Germany last year was a test version, but clearly you have the inside story

If it only was...
4 wheels were produced and sent to the UCI for testing (and crashing).
The next 2 were produced for Jan. We told him before that NOBODY had ever tried these wheels. We let him know that they NEVER have been mounted to any bicycle before.
He didn´t care
Can you imagine I was biting my fingernails in front of the TV the first stage he used them?

So did the UCI approve them before he used them in a race? (Not sure how all that works)

Yes the UCI approved first I am right, Jan cannot drive the wheels in a race if they are not UCI Legal.
