Weight Weenies

I liked the Prologo saddle bag attachment with a clip, but I want to try other saddles,
the bags like toppeak comes with a clamp to go on the rails.
But It makes no sense to buy a light saddle and then the clamp is something like 80g (guessing).

So what bags are you guys using and how do they attach.. I use a small bag about 0.3 liters volume.

i use a BBS bag very similar to the Continental bag it replaced. Small with a velco strap. Easy.

for longer rides I use the arundel dual. Fits two tubes/levers/multi-tool, attaches with one large velcro strap on back of saddle rails to prevent rub.

No saddle bag! Just stuff the pockets of your jersey...

+1......saddle bags are for middle aged women and donkeys.

Just have some old saddle bag with 2 tubes and 2 co2 cartridges and 4,5,6mm hex head wrenches. I used to carry all that stuff in my jersey pockets but then I grew up

Gave up on saddle bags. Have everything in a jersey pocket. One latex tube, lenzyne v5 multi tool, lenzyne alloy levers, lenzyne co2 head, and a co2 cartridge. All fits in a couple of small plastic bags. Lenzyne stuff is super light and all alloy. If its a longer ride 100 miles or so ill bring a park glueless patch kit and a extra co2 cartridge.

I have many saddlebags that are not used. I use a black sock and a bit of velcro. Works for me

All the fizik saddles allow you to attach one of their saddle bags (no straps/velcro etc).

Anybody have any long term experience with those Fizik bags? I saw one fly off during a group ride a few years back and have been turned off by them ever since. It could have just been a fluke though.

I have the fizik bag. It's a nice idea but the quality isn't that great - there's some rotational play in the plastic arm and some movement in the clip-in attachment. The bag itself is fine and it's lasted several hundred+ mile rides but I can't say I would buy it again, just don't have enough confidence in the attachment. It would be significantly improved if made from metal, IMO.

I only use a saddle-bag for rides over ~125mi.
Anything less there really is no need, ever.

on a sunday club run in the UK you can at certain times of there year get anything up to 3 flats in a day
also withstanding a multifunction tool next to your back (nasty feeling personally) and a set of tyre levers
I think a saddle bag is essential
Maybe you don't need to carry so much stuff in LA

Without a saddle bag I'm prepared for up to three flats with or without two sidewall blowouts. That's a worst case scenario... even at that point, it's a sign you should head home. All of that fits nicely in a size-small jersey pocket, still leaving two pockets for food/nutrition/gels/etc, mobile phone & necessary wallet/cards, music (if applicable) and still more room for any take offs (arm warmers, knee warmers, "weight weenie vest" )

The roads in Los Angeles & Vicinity are a mixed bag. Some are smoother than butter melting off my girl's hips, some look like the roads of Dresden on February 16th, 1945. That being said, knocking on wood/carbon/alloy/steel/whatever, if you are a good rider and intelligent about where you are putting your wheel and maintaining your equipment, flats can be avoided for years at a time. Out here at least.

In addition, if you're on a club ride whats the chance of everyone in the bunch getting 3 flats?
