Meh... I know what you’re saying Tony but change is always strange at first. Then it becomes normal when it becomes more familiar. I know the c-series frames bridge the gap between traditional and modern so there’s a strong argument for campag, maybe more so on an art decor frameset... But for me personally I’m passed that. I think most people are now to be honest.
Obviously I agreeTurboTommy wrote: ↑Fri Apr 20, 2018 10:27 amMeh... I know what you’re saying Tony but change is always strange at first. Then it becomes normal when it becomes more familiar. Very nice. Similar tastes, but your blue looks better than my red. Enjoy!
And they will be the first in line to be thrown overboard!!

Unless you build up a team bike All the Colnagos had Shimano back around 2000. The 7700-group is in my eyes as good looking as anything italian (except the brakes). The hubs are perfection.
This one just built up with a few exceptions from the original: 7800-brakes for looks and improved braking, and also the wrong headset. Cant find the threadless converion kit for the DA headset anymore. The wheels are not on DA7700 hubs as they should. Maybe later.
Erik Dekker on the same bike:
Edit: Sorry, this is from 2001 on the generation 3 C40 with B-stays. In 2000 he had the same bike.
Nice! That’s a keeper.

Ahhh! Beautifiul. I am working on the same build but an MKIII with the B-Stays. I too was originally against the Shimano idea, but that's what they raced so I'm going 7700 as well. Where did you source the Colnago bar tape? I haven't started searching yet, but a point in the right direction would be great.

Maybe it was the last one. Brick Lane bikes have them, but unfortunately double the price I paid. https://www.bricklanebikes.co.uk/Bar-Tape
The 7700-group is very smooth, at least if you find one in good shape or NOS parts. The only thing I dont like is the sharp transition from the hoods to the shallow bar which makes me hang on my thumbs with no rest for the palm. I also have an MKIII with all italian parts (well.. except the headset and pedals.) Thats the bike I use most of the time. I only have this bad phone pic for now:
