Color matching or not, this C-40 has a superb ride quality... a mix of "floating on a cloud" rear end with the more dynamic and resonant steel front end.
Rather interesting, this combination, much better for a comfort, long distance bike than the one the industry went to, with the more common metallic rear ( mostly Alu ) with carbon fork to soften the ride, which I find doesn't soften it much.
Off course this is heavier than and equivalent AluFrame/Carbon Fork, because those steel fork and stem do weight quite a bit.
This bike is small for me for that reason I don't see me keeping it forever, maybe will sell it at some point, but it is indeed very nice to ride it.

salsalover, calnago, thats not my bike...nor did i paint it, a friend of mine that lives in colombia did it, i guess he wanted to evoke earlier c50 that had different fork. just looks different i guess....my pr 99 still stock.
salsalover, I found a mint c40 in the geo scheme, great condition! the freire mapei is probably the best scheme done on that bike imo.

hey willy
Yes the Mapei World Champion is one of the best paintjobs of that era, and quite difficult to find. Me being an all time fan of Mapei and specially Oscarito, I am happy to have got it.
I am starting to get the build kit for my C40, I expect to receive the frame in maybe one week, I will build it with Record 11 and use the OpenPro/Record wheels on it.
I am going with a 3T post/stem/handlebar combo as the frame is coming without the Colnago seatpost.
I would like to setup the headset spacers like on your Master with the 5 WC colours, where did you get those spacers ? thanks.
