Jamie, I take it you miss the mountains - I would too. But it's getting cold, and riding will be much more limited for the next 6 mo.
Frankie, what do you think about these tires? I've been considering them

Thanks. Still not got anywhere with Cervelo...

yes, locally called "ice water" in areas where you can't get potable water on tap nor bottled water.

Mt. Hamilton is easily the best way in the bay area California to maximize elevation in a single ride. Today was 60 miles and 8,900 feet of climbing. :beerchug:

Did you do the west side, east side from Isabel creek, and then the last climb on the west from the fire station? The stats match that ride. I know you were on the east side as that's where the painted numbers are.

That's one of my favorite climbing training rides. I bet the weather was great for it yesterday with the inversion layer making it warmer at altitude than down in the valley. I did Uhmunum before work yesterday and it was nice.

Three times up Diablo (two south gates and a north gate) will get you 10,000' in about 65 miles. I have tried to put together something as climbing dense in the santa cruz mountains but other than doing repeats of Jamison or similar I don't think it can be done... there needs to be some flat stuff connecting the climbs.

Just do it. It's not hard- I regularly see people with mountain bikes and tennis shoes riding it. (that's cool, I like seeing normal people on bikes).
Now when is a good time- it's not hot like in summer but there's no snow or ice yet. If you can't do the whole thing, turn around and try it again later.

I'm with eric on this one. Just get out there and ride it addictR1! It is an amazing climb and well worth the trip up. Just be wary of the possibility of gravel on some of the corners when descending...
