DT240 hub questions
Moderator: robbosmans
i have a set of Reynolds Aero 72 and from the spec for the hub listed: Reynolds Racing Design Straight-pull with DT Swiss 240 Internalsh DT 240 Internals
are these with steel bearings or ceramic? just wondering when the time come for upgrading the bearings, would it be a PITA to replace or easily DIY? and likewise, which type of silky spinning bearings can i use to replace in the DT240 if needed *cough* to reduce weight...
looks like youtube is my friend.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Wde2goI3Cs
guess i'd need DT's service tools to get the bearings out when the time comes...

There is little to be gained by reducing the weight on a bearing as the radius is not great.
In my bearing testing, I have found Enduro to be the fastest for the first 100km, after that NTN, SKF are the best.

DT 240 bearings should last along time and ceramic won't save weight, but if you need to replace then go with SKF or NTN as Hambini says.

They'll have numbers on the bearing covers
Some of them don't have numbers on the seals. however it's no big deal to measure them. If you watch this video, It covers most things including the numbers

There is also a bit here which is bearing basics
