I am thinking about picking up a set of Enve Classic 45 Clincher wheels for my S-Works Tarmac. My training rides are normally about 45 KM with very minimal hills. (It's a river trail). They are 20/24 spoke count and I am having trouble figuring out what the weight limit is. I would prefer to not say my weight yet to try and get some un-biased opinions.

Thanks!

I would look further, the 45's are a bit outdated, narrow and braking and heat resistance is not up to the current standard for carbon rims. Had two pairs and with good wide flanged 20/24 hubs i would say 80 kg max would be reasonable

Sadly, I weigh more than this at the moment. My 45s have been fine. They're tubular wheels.

I also agree that there are way better choices now than the 45s, which are bad news bears when it's windy.

I also own a pair of 3.4 clinchers and they're pretty nice wheels, but not the widest and I think wide is where it's at nowadays. We're not going back to narrow.

classic 45's do not have a weight limit..

personally I would reject them for braking and heat resistance and not being up to par with what's out there today.... but not your weight.

no weight limit on all enve wheels. However I would stay away, I ruined a brake track recently, its not up to snuff when it comes to heat (and brake power)

How did you ruin a brake track on them?

I've had friends that have delaminated 4.5 (old track) enve gave him updated brake track version.. which have been fine so far for him.

It's correct that there is no weight limit on the 45's but my going over 80/85 a higher spoke number would be a good idea

I"m 250 and burned up the brake track on the gen 1 4.5 SES Clinchers. Enve took care of it without issue.

I never feared my weight on the wheels.

was ridding normally, then braking felt weird. Stoped looked at the wheel and was delaminated. I messaged enve but I was not original owner so they told me to piss off.

Good to know, don't buy used enve wheels.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm 205 lbs (92kg) but also losing some weight slowly. I ended up buying a bike with the wheels on it and I'm gonna swap wheels with my current bike and sell that bike. Hopefully I can sell the bike for close to what I paid so I'm not out that much.

I know they are dated but I don't want to spend $1500 for new wheels but I am curious to try out some aero carbon clinchers so I am going this route. Luckily my training ride has very little braking so I'm not too worried about that.

Thanks for the replies
