This quite possibly is the dumbest question I've ever seen anywhere but....

I was looking on the Lightweight website and I saw they were selling mirrors: https://shop.lightweight.info/en/Access ... lid=400327

So what exactly is stopping me from taking the mirror bit out and drilling spoke holes and building it up to some hubs?

This is total conjecture: maybe they aren't the same spec rims, or have failed NDT...

You do know that the rims arent designed for the point loading of conventional spokes yes?

They are most likely rims that didn't come out of the molds to spec. Also as mentioned above, the Lightweight design doesn't account for steel spokes and their load.

If you still want to consider the idea, have fun with that.

Had a couple of those hangers in my closet for awhile. But couldn't ever get a good night's sleep. The gentle breeze from the ceiling fan would find its way into the closet and cause all kinds of banging around sounds as the hangers got thrown about against the walls etc. :)

Calnago is right

Mirrors and hangers with V-shaped rims are outdated...and not robust to cross winds...

Maybe they aren't the best choice for everyday use hangers, but, for a race day hanger in 0-5 degree yaw track wind conditions, they still hold their own with the best of toroidal hangers...while looking so pro.
