Latex is not always latex.....depending on the brand the latex tubes have a different quality. This is what I experienced at least with the latex tubes I used in the past (Vittoria, Michelin, Vredestein, etc....). In overall latex is usually better in terms of puncture than the butyl (and don't deflate instantly which makes them more secure).

I personally used latex tubes in my carbon rims (Lightweight) as I don't use my carbon wheels in the mountains etc.... for these kind of courses I always use aluminum wheels (Fulcrum Racing Zero nite).
