I do not believe that is correct - it actually has an inner width of 15mm and an outer of 20.8mm.

I just checked and you are right! I stand corrected. Sorry.
On the other hand it's still not a "very narrow" old school box section wheel.

That's correct. Shimano's website lists the wheel size as 622 x 15C. 2mm difference in wheel width is a lot.

I have a set of Hed Belgium Plus rims with an internal width of 21mm. It makes everything else look narrow :D

I appreciate everyone's thoughts. Since my DA 7800 is still working well, I'm leaning toward keeping the Enves.

I would not get rid of my enves for c24s... Ever!
I actually thinking of getting enve 7.8 to replace my 6.7.. Maybe someday I'll get the new brake track 3.4 but the old ones are ok

Enve 3.4's, great wheels, stiff, w R45's, agreed , hold up speeds well > 32k.

C24's great for climbing, and for steep long descents you don't have to worry too much about over heating vs Enve's, great price, great all around wheel.

Are the gray Enve brake pads still the best for the 3.4s?

^ there is probably better but for warranty reasons and the fact I bought a bunch of them a number of years ago.. I've tried nothing else.

Do you have the new brake track or the old? Grey is for the old track. The new textured track requires a different pad, which I think is blackish in color.

I'm still on the old on both my 3.4 and 6.7.. yes they are grey. I bet the new track would eat the greys in no time.

I have 7900 and 9000 C24s. They measure 16mm.

According to Shimano themselves:
Rim Size: 622 X 15C (700C)
http://bike.shimano.com/content/sac-bik ... 24-cl.html

With the trend and industry going wider (and Shimano's own 2017 DA wheels going wider) it is clear that they would report them as being wider than 15mm if they actually were. There is likely an issue with the method or tool you are measuring with.

I cannot speak about the Enve's, but my 9000 C24 TL's ride perfectly. 10k miles and counting. Quiet, stiff, and strong. (Hit some monster potholes many times and true as day one.) Relatively inexpensive, so I own a brand new spare set.

Now add a 9000 gruppo to the mix and it seems an easy decision to me. IMHO, the 9000 shifts better than 7800, stops better, and saves at least 100 grams, doesn't it? And keeping the 7800 for a foul weather bike, what's to consider? :exactly:

Your reply is silly.

My reply is not silly. I just posted a link to Shimano's own website where they state the wheel has a 15mm ID, which is consistent with literally every product page or review you can find about them. If your caliper measures something different then that, then you are either not measuring the same point or your caliper is not zeroed properly.
