I recall some posts somewhere but no joy finding them. I have a pair of light-bicycle 45mm u-shape wheels and fitting Conti GP4000s II is nearly impossible, and when I am successful there's seemingly no way NOT to pinch a tube. I'm no noob (been doing this for nearly 30 years) and I can recall only a couple wheels that were this bad. Any recommendations for tires that fit a bit better than the Contis?

Thx!

Is that common knowledge? Also, I realized that by using cloth rim strips that I'm doing myself no favors. I'll swap them out for thinner ones and try that.

Try some stans tape wraped super tight.

Yup. Going to pick some up on the way home today. LBS has some in stock.

It's easier with veloplugs. I've fitted S-works Turbo's with just a bit more work than other (non-tubeless) rims.

Used some stans tape and the tires fit with a little less effort and no tube problems assuming you use some talc.

I have a couple rolls of Scotch 8898 tape for rim strip use. It's identical to Stans, but less than ten usd per 60 yards.

The Scotch tape is not the same. It is thinner and is not as adhesive. TESA 4289 is the same as Stan's.

8898 has good adhesion. The 8896 is slightly less adhesive. Maybe it is a little thinner than stans but it works perfectly.

4289 works well - I am using it on several tubeless rims - but it's not the same as Stan's.
