And also how light on budget?

I bought a bike with HED Tomcat wheels which as far as I can find weigh just over 1700g. I haven not taken them off to weigh them myself

I want a second set of lighter wheels with the hope I keep the stock 700x40 cross tires on existing wheels and get some 700x25 road tires on lighter set of wheels for fast change outs depending on where I am riding that day.

I have a set a chinese carbon clinchers that I have been happy with and the same company has a 38mm disc version for $400 that are 1580g. I'm sure I wont find much cheaper but I'm curious what is the lightest wheelset I can expect to find (or have built) for disc brakes?

Disc rims can be lighter than rims with a brake track, I'd say by about 30g apiece? Maybe even more.

You'll need 28 spokes front & rear, with thicker spokes on the front disc side. I don't know how much disc hubs weigh, but if you optimize every part, under 1500g should be possible.

You can view the Bike Ahead Biturbo Road (version) wheelsets!
Told to be the stiffest wheels available for the weight.
Super cool, but a hefty price!

1100 g / 3700 Euro

I use carbon rims with 24/28 for cross and set is 1400g.
I am sure this can be repeated for road.

My 30mm alloy set weigh 1575g and they are in a commutor (24 spoke) with a 80 kg rider and a 9kg bike with at least 7kg of load everyday. So far they have held up.

Ryde have a new disc brake rim that is 370g each. Clincher too and offset.

I have MTB wheels below 1400g. Light is possible. I can think of specs that that with the ryde rims and extralite hubs will be under 1300g.
