I have a set of XTR hubs (black) and im getting a set of rims to build into a wheel that are also black.

Can you pull off silver spokes, or do they need to be black with black hubs?

XTR 9000 hubs? Those are not quite black, they are like polished coffee. The silver will clash. Better go with black.

Hoops will probably be Easton R90 SL if my LBS can get them.

My story. Black rims with some white decals and a silver machined brake track. So not really black. Hubs are gray Shimano 7900. Spokes are black. All this looks OK to be honest. Even though the hubs are not black. BUT I used silver nipples. Don't do that. Use black nipples if you use black spokes. Silver spokes and nipples will probably be fine looking but I would probably recommend black spokes and nipples. Just make sure the nipples and spokes are the same color.

I always prefer the looks of silver spokes. Black/silver/black like the pic above, just looks so classy to me. I like silver hubs too so silver/silver/black would be my second choice.

I prefer black + wide aero spoke style.
Black and silver both are great and you can pick any colour based on your taste.

Noob question:
Spokes can be shaved (and with wheel mounted)? My wheel have white spokes that i'm tired how look. They are stock truing and i dont have confidence in rebuild with lbs here in my city (they dont have tensiometer).
