The Roval CLX has great reviews, however the zipp 2014 Zipp has poor reviews.
Let's finish the ride with a 20% grade.

No. The clx set is excellent, with ceramic bearings from ceramic speed., vs the normal bearings from zipp.

Talk to your Specialized dealer if he will let you trade in your Roval CLX 40 for the new CLX 64 for a good (additional price). May be cheaper and better than going with Zipp.

I agree that Zipp wheels look nice, but while you see many (especially triathletes) use them, they do seem to be VERY unpopular among the knowledgeable croud here.

Zipp 404's are heavy compared to the Roval CLX 40's. I'd keep them and spend my money on other upgrades.

+1 on this
I write the weightweenies blog, hope you like it :)

Disclosure: I'm sponsored by Velocite, but I do give my honest opinion about them (I'm endorsed to race their bikes, not say nice things about them)

You can always look if you can find Easton Aero 55 tubular at some nice price.
Very nice wheels and the tubular version weights about 1370-1380 g for the set.
If you run these with Veloflex carbon (23mm tires) you will have superb ride feel.
Bikes:

Ax Lightness Vial EVO Race (2019.01.03)
Open *UP* (2016.04.14)
Paduano Racing Fidia (kind of shelved)

Ex bike; Vial EVO D, Vial EVO Ultra, Scott Foil, Paduano ti bike.

I have the CLX 60s and love them! I was going to buy 404s, but I'm glad I went with the CLX60s.

Dont get the zipp hate. They have been smashing the tour de france for years. And I myself prefer them over the rovals..

For the cyclist that has a limited budget, it hard to take them testing products (hubs) that have had high failure rates on our dime. After the problem, they then revise the hub to something different and we are stuck in many cases. I would prefer to buy a product and have faith in it and use it until I need a new one or my needs change.

That is why I do not care for Zipp...

I love the hate for Zipps!! I solely ride and race 404s & 202s for the past 4 years and have had zero issues. In fact I know a number of others who have multiple sets of Zipps with absolutely no hub issues. Maybe we are all the lucky ones.
