Hey guys, I think my shop is the first North American spot for Curve Cycling. So I thought I'd share some news and our first set of wheels.

Their CC38 Caron clinchers were just reviewed today by BikeRadar to some solid praise: http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/cate ... set-49892/

Here's our first set of Curve CC38's:

Tubeless compatible and an awesome price point for something way beyond "no name".

I'll post more Curve builds in upcoming posts.
Any questions, ask away.

Ridden the 38s and 50s in the last year - they're very good rims.

they look very good with those DT Swiss straight pulls' (more interestingly, do they have a better geometry than the J-bends'?)

dig the subtle chevron decals

Could you weight that wheelset please? Advertised weight is 1440, Bikerader weighted them at 1527  Maybe incl quickrelaese and rime tape, but it's not clear from the article. Really good looking wheelset, but a litle overpriced. I can get custom build wheels around the latest Reynolds rims, DT 240 SP hubs + cx-ray's for around 1500€ here, at a verified weight of 1410gr

Had missed this one. You are way too much used to your boutique stuffs. A pair of Corima retails for half of this price and Bora ones will save dough for 4 or 5 sets of nice tubulars.

Will weigh em up today.

I love Boras as well but that's a strange comparison since they are a factory built wheelset on their own hubs.

Plus those DT's are decent hubs. Not sure why the hate for straight pull?

I'm personally picking up my new Curve tubular set today from my wheel builder.

you are comparing to no name stuff I'm comparing to name stuff ;)

Campagnolo are known to be perfectly built (i.e. true/round) from factory so the "finish touch" of the builder isn't that much of a factor here

240 hubs are overpriced for what you get and the straight pull version has even worse stiffness than the j bend version.

Best from DT would be the 350. Price/weight more in line with market and a good value. I've built up straight pull front, but always combined it with the flanged rear.

What's Canadian pricing for a set of wheels?

Samuel, your prices are way off btw so I'll leave that be.

Ergott, MSRP is similar in CAD to Aussie after shipping costs. Around $2499 for the pair.

Btw weight is...

The look really nice but IMO quite a bit overpriced

Compare with, for example, the new Fulcrum Quattro Carbon

Almost exactly the same weight

40mm

Fulcrum cartridge hubs vs DT 240s ... not much in it there IMO

Fulcrums are 1100 euros for the pair ...

And FWIW I'd rather be riding Fulcrums and suspect they'd hold value better

Campag/Fulcrum have shaken the carbon wheel market up big time in 2015, and you're seeing guys like Zipp having at last to be a bit more realistic on pricing ...

BLATANTLY just FarSports rims on DT Hubs (which you can buy direct from FarSports built up like this)

Yet another 'company' selling stuff from FarSports with a sticker on it, claiming it is their own.

And surprise surprise, they are available in 38 and 50mm, exactly the same as the FarSports stuff, because they ARE FarSports rims.

No need to get into flaming. I'm taking Curve at their word regarding the moulds being their own design that were later opened to other users.

I've brought in FarSports-style rims before and these are certainly differentiated in several ways, including the toroidal shape and brake track angle. Not to mention the warranty coverage.

Finally, while I LOVE Campy, and Fulcrum, the wheels are WAY higher at MSRP in Canada than you state, so the comparison is not apples to apples. Blame the distribution network perhaps.

I sell a fair number of Boras but carbon wheelbuilds where the user can choose their hubs are much more common for us. That has meant a lot of Enve and Xentis but nice to see Curve offering a better price point.

I built my own Curve CC50 tubular set on gold Tune Mig 70/Mag170 hubs, for example...
