Tufo Hi-Composite vs Continental Sprinter 700x25 tubulars
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi,
Can anyone experienced with this tubulars recommend one? They both cost the same, in "paper" the tufo looks better but I see a lot more use and good reviews on the sprinter. Im interested in ride confort, long lasting tyres and puncture avoidance. I want to use these for my 3-4 weekly outings of about 50km of mostly good roads.
-Thanks

Sprinter probably rides a bit smoother IMHO.
Vittoria Pave would fit your bill too, though a bit softer and less durable.

Sprinter is a much better tire with acceptable comfort and good puncture resistance. Tufos are maybe the most harsh (bad) riding tires in the market.
I can't comment on the Hi-Composite, but I have used the Tufo S33. It lasted forever. When I pulled it off and replaced it with a Sprinter the difference was astounding. The Tufo has a dead feeling, like you're constantly riding through sand. It saps your energy. The sprinter feels lively. It encourages you to get out of the saddle and go for it. And, the Sprinter lasts forever.
+1 on Tufo sucking. Sprinter is certainly my go to cheap tire, though I have only used the 22mm version.
Have a set of Tufo's currently on a wheelset because I bought them used and tire are almost new, can't wait for them to wear out....
Actually I would rather go with some cheapo Giro's or Rally's over the Tufo's I've tried. (Hi-comp Carbon, S-33)
